Nationals Update: Giant Slalom 3rd Place Finish

The women's team traveled up to Sunday River, ME this week to compete in the USCSA National Tournament.  After two days of training, the women's team entered yesterday's Giant Slalom event in top form.

The women claimed a 3rd place finish with all three scoring finishers in the top 16 in the nation!  They were surpassed by Westminster College and Sierra Nevada College, both of which are schools based in the Rocky Mountains and have rosters stacked with athletes from around the world.  The women beat every other team in our McConnell Division by over 6 seconds.  Congratulations to the women on a tremendous job well done!

Co-captain Krista Consiglio '11 led the Bears with an 11th place finish and a time of 2:25.82.  Kia Mosenthal '12 provided the second scored time for the women with a 14th place finish and a time of 2:26.23.  Emily Simmons '12 rounded out the top three times as she skied to a 16th place finish with a time of 2:26.48.  Senior Elisa Handbury '10 finished in 35th clocking in at 2:34.05 and freshman Cat Stewart '13 skied to a 42nd place finish with a time of 2:35.77.

Once again, congratulations to the women on an outstanding finish.  Look for them again on Friday when they compete in the Slalom event.  You can stream the race live through the USCSA website and on Live-Timing.
