End of Season Update

The 2011 season ended this weekend with the joint Brown University/Boston College Carnival at our own Wildcat Mountain.  The weekend brought both teams back to Mt. Washington Valley and the men returned to the famed Will's Inn where they spend the entire Jan Camp.  However, the weather played havoc on the race schedule as Sunday's Giant Slalom race had to be canceled due to high winds and poor visibility.

On Saturday, the seniors came out in style showing off their true colors.  Mike "Google Maps" Cohen '11 is known among the coaches and team members for his photographic memory and cunning ability to guide the vans through the backroads of New Hampshire.  Fittingly, he dressed up as Google Maps, displaying maps of the entire United States across his body.  As he went down for his second run, he even used a North American atlas to cross-block the gates.  Jeff Ernsting '11 dressed up as a penguin, yet despite the headgear and plump body, finished with a time of 1:34.49 in 25th place.  Captain Krista Consiglio '11 donned a pink outfit and skied to a 6th place finish with a time of 1:33.07.

In the slalom, the women were led by Kia Mosenthal '12 who finished 3rd coming in at 1:32.50.  Freshman Emma LeBlanc '14 was close behind with a time of 1:32.87, which was good for a 5th place finish.  Emily Simmons '12 rounded out the 4 scoring times with a 19th place finish and led to a Brown victory for the final race of the year.

With Saturday's result, the women finished tied for 3rd place in the McConnell Division.  They look to continue upon their late season success at regionals in two weeks.  The men ended the season in 7th place - their best finish in recent years as they beat out MIT and St. Anselm.  Stay tuned for updates from regionals at Waterville Valley and Nationals in Sun Valley, Idaho.
